Everything is original

Julian Barnes relates a story of a friend of his who was going through some kind of mid-life crisis or something, and someone chastises him for living such a cliché.

He responds, “It may be a cliché, but it doesn’t feel cliché to me.”

    It’s from Barnes’ book, Nothing To Be Frightened Of. (Don’t know the page.) Didn’t love the book, but loved this vignette.
